Vehicle1977 Porsche 924 Martini
Under construction/being restored after
finding it under a tree mostly stripped
already. It has been painted black over the
martini colours and needed work on some rust
and lots of parts missing. All ICE components
are off the car and I am nearly done doing up
the body. Already reupholstered the seats and
found the missing bits.
Motor Permanent Magnet DC
Homemade Axial flux PMDC motors planned, trying
to find suitable magnets for what I intend to
make is proving difficult.
DrivetrainI am planning on building my own two PMDC
motors directly driving the rear CV joints
with a toothed belt reduction drive (or just
large circumference) as per axel borg's book
with some modifications of my own (see his
motorbike on here- number 3318)
Controller EPC Jr
prototype IGBT based controller made by EPC
corporation.
Batteries0.00 Volt,
Haven't bought them yet, waiting to see if
anything better than lithium titinate cells
turns up before I finish the rest. Will probably
get more leaf cells (see my other conversions)
Heater12V hairdryer.
Seating Capacity2+2
Curb Weight0
aiming at 1100kg
Tires14" 185/65
Conversion Time30hrs of body/rust work and stripping down and
adding parts where required.
Conversion CostSo far around $1500
Additional Featuressway bars and red go faster carpet and seats as well as a celebratory
plaque for winning le mans for the fourth time in 1977 sets this
model apart from the standard 924.
Progressing slowly but steadily as funds allow. My local engineer
will not commit on if I need to use a differential. Considering a
chinese EV motor/diff combo PMDC motor, gearbox and controller in one
unit as a possible option if he wont allow my 2 homemade motors
running in torque mode as an electronic diff. Started this one first
but will probably finish it last. I now have 3 on the go.
