I wanted it light so I could take it on bus and train. currently I use it to go 35 mi/ one way to work. I use train or bus for 26 mi and use bike for rest. 44 pounds is not the lightest bike but it is easy to put on bus and train and take up stairs. Also easy to pedal if you don't want power assist.
