Additional Features | Regenerative braking!!!! Since I used a separately excited motor (and corresponding controller), regenerative braking was possible with this conversion. Feels like a "normal" car, since it slows down when the accelerator pedal is released. When this happens, the panel-mounted amp meter shows negative amps (IE: Charging the batteries). |
Being my second EV conversion, this vehicle was an experiment using a separately excited DC motor. This motor was not available in Australia, so I imported it from a factory in China myself along with a controller and charger. Results are impressive. The van is also quite unique - Has gained media attention around town. |
