Vehicle | 2005 EV Warrior kit by Easy Racers for a recumbent trike w/motor EZ Tad base frame with fiberglass kevlar and 1 tinted fairings with a 36V hub motor from Electric Sierra Cycles (Santa Cruz, CA.)
Motor | hub motor & human power Electric Sierra Cycles
Drivetrain | 36V hub motor in rear wheel, and pedals (only 7 gears is all that is necessary- front derailleur and rings were replaced with a 77 tooth gear only) - a real hybrid!
Batteries | 36.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Thin Metal Film Just replaced 3/5/2010 (3 - lead acid 14 amp)
System Voltage | 36 Volts
Charger | lithium charger: but it works. Whatever!
Heater | none | ||||
Instrumentation | none | ||||
Top Speed | 35 MPH (56 KPH) 20 on flat, 30 pedaling, 35 down long hill!
Acceleration | fair, but too smooth when I want to 'go'/burn out !
Range | 12 Miles (19 Kilometers) Never ran low yet, have not pushed/fully drained batteries.
EV Miles |
| ||||
Seating Capacity | 1 adult only, but lots of storage!
Curb Weight | 110 Pounds (49 Kilograms) Trike, shell, fairings, accessories are 77 pounds; so motor, batteries,controller about 30 pounds
Tires | Either Primo Comet 20" x 1.5" (or for softer ride) Kenda Kwest 20" x 2.5"
Conversion Time | month and a half to build, 2 years to plan. Been on the road 5+ years.
Conversion Cost | $5-6000.00 (approximately)
Additional Features | Fiberglass/Kevlar body lowered to 4" high, so BeSeen flag a must! Armrests came and went, but hard shell seat with 2" thick open-cell foam stayed- as did about 9 square yards of padded insulation, stereo, Sony speakers, disc brakes on all 3 wheels, emergency brake pin. upswinging "Lamborghini doors" trailer hitch and trailer. The solid top has been removed (2010) so stereo, signals, brake light were also removed.
Fairly limited top speed operation with California speed laws, but that might be a good thing! The limit is 20. My other recumbent trike had no limits, and I rolled it several times. This trike stays much safer without jackrabbit starts! |
