Vehicle | 1972 Peterborough Boat This was an old boat I got to try out converting things to electric. I really want to get some property on the water but first I had to make sure I could do it without burning excessive amounts of gas... |
Motor | 3-Phase AC I ordered the 10kW motor, wiring harness, and controller for an EV car conversion from Green Motor Tech, greenmotortech.com, and then put it into the boat. It seems to have worked surprisingly well. |
Drivetrain | I replaced the 55 HP Johnson Seahorse 2 stroke outboard engine with an electric motor I ordered from Alibaba. My cousin build an adapter plate and we JB welded a coupler onto the motor. |
Controller | From what I can tell it's UK Easy Power, or Enpower. I got it from Alibaba along with the motor |
Batteries | 8, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Gel I got them used from a guy who strips down wheelchairs. One was bad which kept the speed down but I got a replacement which should work better... I'll update after I try it out |
System Voltage | 96 Volts |
Charger | 12v chargers. I have to change the batteries from series to parallel to charge. I'm working on a better Lithium battery pack so this is temporary. |
Top Speed | I'll update once I get the batteries working |
Acceleration | Awesome, for what it is |
Range | 1000' ish so far... |
Seating Capacity | Well.... It's got a board screwed down over the batteries for bench seating.... |
Conversion Time | About 2 or 3 days of my time, but my cousin cut the adapter plate which took a while. |
Conversion Cost | $5500 for everything (including gas to drive the boat from where I bought it). |
