Trying to build it as light as possible. Looking to only use
around town. Top speed of 35 mph would be fine. Range 10
miles should be fine. Would love more speed and range but
trying to be realistic considering 48 volts.

DrivetrainStock IRS 4-speed transmission. Will be mounting the motor
above the transmission and using a Gates carbon belt for the
driveline. Trying to keep the vehicle as compact as possible.

Should be approx. 280 lbs of batteries. +1 additional battery

Plan is to use the Minn Kota MK 460 4 Bank 15 Amp On-
Board Charger. 15 amp per battery. Will have additional
single charger for auxiliary battery (also plan on a small on-
vehicle solar panel for the auxiliary battery)

DC/DC Converter
NONE. Auxiliary battery for lights, etc...
InstrumentationHave stock speedo, 48 volt battery gauge and plan on using
voltmeter for amp monitor.
Top Speed35 MPH (56 KPH)
Looking for 35mph. It is for in-town use. So doesn't need
much.
AccelerationProbably will be slow.

Shooting for less than stock. I have been vigorously
removing anything and everything that doesn't need to be on
the car.
TiresPretty much stock now. Might get some 7.00x15 tires for the
Baja off road look.
Conversion CostVehicle was $500.
Cost of EV components is very cheap so far (but no
batteries purchased yet).

Have spent about the same amount on various Beetle
parts. New bearings, CVs, redone brakes all around, new
shocks.
