| Vehicle | 2008 Kikker Hardknock 3/4 scale, bobber style motorcycle with springer forks. |
| Motor | Briggs and Stratton ETEK-RT Permanent Magnet DC |
| Drivetrain | I plan on using a 15T drive sprocket, and 70T rear sprocket. |
| Controller | Kelly PM72401 w/ Regen |
| Batteries | 120 BMI LiFePO4, 60.00 Volt, Lithium-Ion On-board, I will have four, 60V 10AH packs running in parallel via Schottky diodes. Additionally, I will have two, 60V 10AH packs in removable saddlebags - for extended range trips. |
| System Voltage | 60 Volts |
| Charger | Thundersky TSL60-20 60V, 20 Amp, LiFePO4 charger. |
| DC/DC Converter | I will be attempting to use a mini-ITX computer power supply as my DC/DC converter. This would provide 12V, 5V, and 3.3V leads. |
| Instrumentation | I will be using an Eagle Tree data logger which will log voltage/amps used, geo-location (via GPS add-on), temperatures, speed, motor RPM, etc. I will hopefully be able to integrate an Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC). |
| Top Speed | 50 MPH (80 KPH) Speed at this time is estimated. |
| Acceleration | This should have pretty good acceleration via the use of the higher torque Etek-RT motor and 5:1 gearing ratio. |
| Range | 60 Miles (96 Kilometers) (estimated) |
| Watt Hours/Mile | 60 Wh/Mile (estimated) |
| Seating Capacity | 1 adult |
| Conversion Cost | Motorcycle rolling chassis: $1,800 Motor/Controller: $1,000 Batteries: $6,000 And a bunch more down the pipeline...... |
| This is currently a work in progress. I am having the folks over at Thunderstruck EV do a few frame modifications (motor mount and battery bracket) since I know nothing about welding... :( However, everything else I'll be doing myself. The attached images are conceptual 3D renderings I have done as part of my planning process. I will be regularly updating my build 'blog' over on the Endless-Sphere EV forum. Update: I have received the frame from Thunderstruck, and am now in the process of building the battery box. | |
