Vehicle | UNKNOWN Got the frame from a motorcycle salvage yard. If anyone recognizes what kind it is, please let me know. |
Motor | JX Motor Co., LTD MY1070 Permanent Magnet DC 750W (1HP), 2500RPM, 36V, 27A. Inconsistent since 36 x 27 = 972. However, the motor will only draw a certain amount of current at 36V depending on the resistance of the windings. |
Drivetrain | sprockets from www.electricscooterparts.com single speed bicycle chain; note: rear sprocket fits multi-speed chain but front sprocket only fits single speed chain. Had a little trouble integrating the rear sprocket to the hub but drilled the holes larger so the sprocket could be adjusted for even chain tension. Needed the bicycle chain because the first chain was too light and broke. |
Controller | CT-660B9 36V, 40A but having serious problems with reliability. Failure mode is "on" making for dangerous riding. Need a kill switch. Have alerted BBB, NSC, CPSC, and NTSB. Also plan to incorporate a turbo relay and design a reliable, repairable controller. |
Batteries | 3 Werker SLI24MDP, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded Marine Dual Purpose Starting and Deep Cycle Battery - 31Ah but that's not what I'll get out of it since the Ah rating is based on a trickle discharge and I can't get specs on this battery for a 20-30A continuous draw. My guess is about 20Ah but then they recommend not going below 50% to increase battery life so that brings it down to about 10Ah. Have since moved to three WKA12-9F2 batteries. Better for mounting and space constraints. Now have three 18Ah Rhino batteries. Works fantastic. Get at least an hour or ten miles range. Great power, even up the hills. Use a 30A fuse. |
System Voltage | 36 Volts |
Charger | HG6S360160 Manuf not printed on box for some reason. Has worked well charging thru the controller except most recent when controller worked before charging then didn't work after charging. |
Top Speed | 20 MPH (32 KPH) 11 tooth front sprocket 55 tooth rear sprocket |
Acceleration | Excellent! Climbs hills very well except the steepest mountain roads at the end of a 5 mile trip. |
Range | 5 Miles ( 8 Kilometers) Based on battery assumptions above. I haven't seen an honest description of range in any retail advertisements. Three WKA12-9F2 give about 5 mile range (10 mile round trip) or 10 miles out then recharge for return. |
