Motor | General Electric Series Wound DC It's a Club Car golf cart motor. |
Drivetrain | We now have an EV I forklift controller which comes as a unit with all contactors and pots. It works great, but with 48 volts the top speed is only about 35. The system is fully programmable so I can take it up to 72v if I want. |
Controller | General Electric for PRC 48v forklift EV I forklift. They're everywhere. Thank you Jimmy Hardin at H&M Forklift Services, Blacksburg, SC. |
Batteries | 8 Energizer GC 2, 6.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded I'm going to wait to get better batteries later. These energizer batts are for cheap at SAM's Club. |
System Voltage | 48 Volts |
Charger | Nice new one compliments of Mike Moore at Ampmobile Conversions.com. Thanks Mike |
DC/DC Converter | We got a great little DC to DC on this thing. Unfortunately, if I boost the voltage up to 72, I'll have to change it out. |
Top Speed | 35 MPH (56 KPH) It seems like 95 when you're driving it. Imagine going that fast on a lawn mower. |
Acceleration | Nice |
Range | We'll see. |
Seating Capacity | 2 adults |
Tires | original 12's |
Conversion Time | Lost count |
Conversion Cost | Up to about $3000.00 so far. |
My class of automotive students and I are doing this thing. They LOVE it. I can't convince some of them that putting in a built 350 would be missing the point. We have a title, license and Progressive Ins. Need to insure yours, call Progressive. |
