Vehicle | 1973 Opel Manta After going back and forth.. I have decided to use this 1973 Opel Manta. Originally started out as a special edition "Blue Max" version of the Opel Manta, due to rust and other modifications, its unlikely to be able to be restored as a "Blue Max". So it will be converted to an "Electric Blue Max" |
Motor | Netgain TransWarp 9 Series Wound DC After all the research, this seems to be the best motor to serve my purposes. Especially since I want to reuse my 3 speed Automatic transmission. |
Drivetrain | Originally a 1.9L with 3 speed Automatic. |
Controller | Curtis Again bang for the buck.. to drop the wieght and cost I decided to go to 96V, so a Zilla wasnt necessary. |
Batteries | 8 US Battery UB121100, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, AGM I can't figure out which is best AGM, UPC Style SLA or flooded.. I am soo.. confused on which is best. I think the budget will dictate the battery choice and this will be that choice.. if the EV Calculator is right this is the best bang for the buck.. that said told AGM USB batteries dont hold up like Flooded golf cart ones.. time will tell. |
System Voltage | 96 Volts |
Charger | Zivan NG1 Best guess.. |
Heater | UNK |
DC/DC Converter | Opel Kadett / Pontiac LeMans Alternator Since the Transwarp has a double shaft, I am going to run a belt driven alternator and vacuum pump. When looking at the cost benefit over the performance one.. this option looked better. The Vacuum pump is off a mid-70s Peugeot 405 Diesel. |
Instrumentation | UNK |
Top Speed | 60 MPH (96 KPH) All specs are based on a WebPage calculations. |
Acceleration | 0-60 in approximately 10-11 secs |
Range | 20 Miles (32 Kilometers) Range is calculated at 40 mph average by: WebPage |
Seating Capacity | 2 adults |
Curb Weight | 2,950 Pounds (1,340 Kilograms) Still going to use the 3 speed automatic.. if I could remove that and get the transwarp setup to direct drive.. it would drop the car 100 lbs. |
Tires | 4 |
Conversion Time | 2 years.. but I am taking my time. Currently stripping the Manta, and working on getting a rottiserie to work on the body. |
Conversion Cost | Approximately 5,000 USD |
